Today was kind of a sad day. Denise received a call from GDA today saying that it was decided I would change careers and become someone’s forever dog and family pet. I get frightened from some normal everyday things so I guess being a guide dog was just not for me… You have to be VERY brave when you help guide someone who cannot see! GDA will find me a new family…. I can’t wait to meet them!

Fern, It's okay! You do have to be very brave to be a guide dog, but being part of a family...that is something special :)
ReplyDeleteThat's kind of a bummer -- having a special job to do gives life meaning in a big, obvious way -- but the joys of family and domesticity are nothing to sneeze at, either. You're going to bring someone great happiness; that's a worthy enough goal for any lifetime, methinks.
