Denise looked out the front window of the office this morning and saw all the construction workers running out of the building by foot and car then we heard the sirens of the fire truck but we did not think anything of this as Kaiser Permanente is also right across the street and we hear sirens all the time just though someone was hurt on the construction site. Instead of just one or two fire truck coming slowly down the down the street there was five then six flying to a stop in front of the building with the firemen jumping out and grabbing hoses from the back and sirens of more truck coming. So we walked out of the office and saw this huge black smoke coming from the building and this explained why all the construction worker were hanging out on the front lawn of our office building helicopters, news crews and tons of people standing around out side. The fire was put out in an hour but the fire truck and crew did not leave for another four to five hours later. From what we heard the fire was started by welding sparks that got a way from the "fire watch" (worker with a fire extingisher). But during all this noise Denise says I was a very very good girl and did not have any problems with the noise that I just laid down and took a nap while she was watching what was happening.

While Denise and I went out to lunch today we found out that the local fire departments were holding a fund raiser at the Woodland Hills Promenade Mall today. There were three different dunk the fireman booths, and at one of them the lady who was throwing the ball missed and almost hit Denise! When she picked it up and handed it to the fireman sitting on the water platform the lady ran up to the target and hit it making the fireman fall into the pool and a big splash got Denise and I soaked. There was also team relays using a hose wagon to lay out the hoses then had to attach the hose to a hydrant and spray a target off the mark. I really liked watching the teams run down the street with the wagon and when I tried to join them Denise stopped me “she is always stopping me from having fun”. Some of the local restaurants had food booths where they donated there proceeds from the event. It was really fun to watch the auction where the women were competing to win a dinner with a fireman; one bid was up to $1,500.00 when we left to go back to work.

Dinner With The Firemen

Dennis, our host and fellow puppy raiser, volunteered the “C” shift of the Pacific Palisades Fire Department to make dinner for the winning bid at the Open House silent auction. So, eight of us puppies and nine of our raisers came out here tonight to enjoy their hospitality. They let us do what ever we wanted in the way of photos. Tori and Fievel wanted to drive the Fire trucks… guess what, they let them!

Kuma and Yasmine wanted to see if the boots would fit them so out came these giant boots that are almost as tall as me!
Our raisers were then served this incredible spread of food (half a chicken, pork roast, twice baked potatoes, roasted red potatoes, rosemary bread, salad, grilled asparagus, brownies, ice cream, chocolate cake, cookie bars, and more… Again, I had to lay under the table and was not allowed any food. When we thought the night was over, the firemen told us that we get to ride in the fire trucks. Oh my gosh that was so much fun! Dennis was our driver and took us on a tour around the neighborhood. He showed us where some stars lived and a story of a rookie firefighter took off the side view mirror of one star’s SUV! Oooops!! I hope who ever wins this basket/dinner next year will have as much fun as we did.
